The making of Demon’s Souls Remake was a dream of many of us and we were really happy to hear about the making of this version. Now that we see this reconstruction of a masterpiece itself has become a great masterpiece and has been able to fully preserve the value and originality of the original game. It was really hard work, but we already knew that BluePoint could do that, and fortunately this developer still did not disappoint us. Demon’s Souls Remake is a masterpiece that should be one of your first games in the ninth generation and one of the main reasons to buy PlayStation 5 for Souls friends. Do not miss this masterpiece at all, of course, if you like to be challenged.
While I was somewhat late to the PlayStation 5 party, as I only got mine back in February, I pretty much took to the Demon’s Souls remake straight away. I played the original game a great deal on the PlayStation 3, so I was fascinated to see how the remake would be handled. I even took time to stop and appreciate the fidelity of the flowing sewage in the game’s notoriously gross Valley of Defilement. This game does not suffer from any negative points in its kind, and if the only drawback of the main game was the animations and some graphics, now they have become the strength of the game. LUCK8 resurrects a game that could have easily become a historical footnote overshadowed by its more popular successors.

Fans of the original can revisit the kingdom of Boletaria and fight demons in the best way possible. New Soulslike fans should check out the game that started it all, as it is worth revisiting in 2025 and beyond. Bluepoint Games perfectly reimagined the original version of Demon’s Souls and gave it the remake it deserves. This project jumpstarted the modern Soulslike genre with the same mechanics, world design, structure, and more. Players can piece the lore together by speaking to different NPCs and visiting ruins, which is what the original director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, wanted to experiment with early on.
Fundamentally, Demon’s Souls for PS5 is what it has always been. Barring some small tweaks, the design of the game is identical to From Software’s original. The core mechanics are unchanged, the enemies are placed in the same positions and behave in the same ways, the devious tricks and traps are still there, ready to catch the unfamiliar off-guard. After days of dedicated players trying to work out what’s on the other side, streamer Distortion2 finally cracked the case. The secret isn’t quite as exciting as fans imagined, but it’s a cool addition nonetheless. All those changes, and apparently some surprises, await players in Demon’s Souls when it comes to PlayStation 5 on the console’s launch day, Nov. 12.
Encountered in a ruin roughly halfway through 4-1, the Adjudicator Shield, while not a weapon in a traditional sense, is an excellent complementary piece for builds that aren’t excessively reliant on parrying or dexterity. Classified as a large shield, it’s not practical in all situations, and it doesn’t even negate one hundred percent of incoming damage. A classic starting weapon for Demon’s Souls is the Knight Sword, a simple weapon that can be wielded in one or both hands by your character. This tool is the ultimate example of flexibility, as you can upgrade it or infuse it however you want without the risk of it losing its best qualities.

Once you reach the archway, go through it to your left, you will find yourself in a room with explosive barrels. Now turn right, and you will face a Boletaria Soldier wielding a halberd. Once you are ready, head down to face the six Dreglings, try to hit them fast.
Boss Battle: Phalanx
The ten-year-old title has been completely remade with an impressive visual upgrade, which definitely helps to revitalize the original Souls game so that it can appeal to the modern generation of players. Although the original reveal did not emphasize any major gameplay differences from the initial release apart from the complete graphical overhaul, Demon’s Souls practically looks like a brand new adventure. Even low-level players can benefit from this spear’s ability.

Moving to the rings, go for Cling Ring and Regenerator’s Ring. For the primary weapon and shield, choose Estoc and Dark Silver Shield, and the secondary slot is equipped with Heavy Crossbow and Parrying Dagger. This build uses the Ring of Great Strength and Cling Ring with Short Spear and Large Brushwood Shield as primary weapon and defense, while Silver Catalyst and Heavy Crossbow are the equipment in the secondary slot.
During the fight itself Fool’s Idol will teleport and create clones to trick you off. The real Fool’s Idol will shoot thicker Soul Rays so that’s a way to recognize her. Watch out for magic traps she sets on the floor which will stun you when you step on them. When you encounter a new boss for the first time, it is recommended to do a practice run where you only focus on blocking and dodging, without even attacking.
Though they may not be able to inflict physical damage on enemies if they are below the Scraping Spear’s utility level, they can still inflict its durability damage. You can also reduce the effectiveness of enemy armor and weapons, making even the most tank-like foes and bosses more manageable to face. In fact, the process of environmental storytelling that we have always seen in Souls titles. In this process, different game characters and talking to them is the main key to telling the story and understanding the events of the game world as much as possible. The storyline of Demon’s Souls Remake takes place in a land called Boletaria; Land of wizards, kings, knights and thieves. The demons are the rulers of the land, and there are only a limited number of skilled warriors who survive and fight for the souls of the dead.
It also makes exploration more interesting and worthwhile, as you can at last keep all the items you find. Obviously, it looks utterly lovely now and the framerate is very smooth indeed, but what makes this game interesting are all the quality-of-life improvements Bluepoint Games has made. Each of the five major areas have three levels a piece, with the first area having a few more. Once you have beaten the first level on the first area, the other areas are unlocked.
However, the PC version may not release alongside its PS5 version. You can either defeat Garl and then kill Astraea, kill Garl and simply talk to Astraea or ignore Garl completely. Once you kill Garl head to Astraea and you will get her soul by either killing her or talking to her which will have her kill herself instead.
The spectacle of seeing this massive creature, while dramatic in the original game, is now astounding. The Demon’s Souls remake’s visual fidelity, its immersive sound effects and score, and the haptic feedback from the DualSense controller together convey the scale of a giant beast tearing through the atmosphere above me. And when I bring down my sword on this demon, I feel the thundercrack reverberate through my hands and my ears as the screen shakes violently. It is worth remembering, however, that the soul of the boss alone is not enough to create weapons. You simply transform a certain type of weapon using the boss’s soul.
Now you can collect all the items at the bridge, without worrying about the dragon. At your left there are two Enemies, try to lure one enemy at a time. Once both are dead, turn to the staircase and start going up. Keep going forward for the only way available, two Boletaria Soldiers will emerge from the building to the left, deal with them as fast as you can. Continuing to your right, you will spot a Blue Eye Knight wielding a two-handed sword.
